WECI is a volunteer-operated, community radio station based in Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. WECI operates at a frequency of 91.5 megahertz with an effective radiating power of 400 watts. We reach Wayne County and parts of Fayette, Franklin, Randolph, and Union counties in Indiana, as well as parts of Preble and Darke counties in Ohio, enabling a listening audience of 150,000 people. WECI attempts to air genres of music otherwise not found on local radio stations.
Many of the shows we air have been part of the WECI schedule for over a decade. We counter this rigidity with shows that are generally done by student DJs. Shows change several times a year, but will often be renewed if they are popular and well produced. By combining the diversity of rotating student shows and the consistency of our long-standing shows, we combine the best attributes of community radio stations with the best of college radio. This allows us to produce a schedule unlike those on other stations. WECI also provides news programming which aims to educate and inform our listening constituencies in ways that are otherwise unavailable in the community.
